To say that this year has been tough, stressful, confusing and overwhelming is an understatement. It kind of feels an odd mix of blinking and going from March to now, but also living through what felt like the slowest and most painful few weeks at the beginning of it all.
For many of us wedding suppliers to have lost the majority of our work this year and to see the turmoil most of our couples have had to go through with postponements, guest list cuts, last minute changes, cancellations, venue changes etc, has been incredibly heart breaking. But equally, it has been such a heartwarming year full of positive changes, newly discovered passions and what was probably a much needed break from many things.
With the first outbreak of Covid, I used my time to volunteer at a hospital in London providing wellbeing to the incredible staff working tirelessly to save lives at the expense of risking their own health. It turns out this was something I loved and 9 months later, I’m still there with the added comfort of having made some of the most special friendships and connections.
I have also found a new love for micro-weddings and elopements and I hope more than anything to continue booking them even once we have weddings back to normal. One of these included Sam & Megan’s day at the beginning of December. They had booked in to get married the day after our second national lockdown had been lifted. We were greeted by pouring rain the entire day, but we headed on over to Battersea Park for some shots of them together regardless and it was hard to feel any ounce of disappointment while around Megan and her gorgeous, infectious smile.
